Why this page exists
Sme Vitalio is an educational portal with no celebrities and no influencers. There’s no doctor-influencer behind it, no big marketing agency. There’s only content, science, and your trust. So you know how we work, we describe our process here openly. You can read who’s behind the site in the About Me section.
What sources we draw on
We draw on publicly available European and international sources — from regulatory authorities through health institutions to expert reviews. None of it sits behind a paywall. Everything we rely on, you can check for yourself.
How we work with sources
For every article we list the categories of sources the text draws on — from European regulatory authorities to people’s experiences on Slovak forums. We’re not a scientific journal and we don’t pretend to be one: our job is to read, sort, and translate into plain language what expert institutions have already verified.
We rely primarily on these publicly available sources, which you can look up yourself at any time:
- EU register of approved health claims (EFSA) — the only source we draw claims about vitamins and minerals from
- World Health Organization (WHO)
- NHS and NICE — British health guidance
- Expert reviews available via PubMed
We use people’s experiences from Slovak discussion boards as a picture of what genuinely troubles our community — never as a health claim. We quote from them only when a traceable link to that discussion exists; we never embellish or tidy up what people said. And one rule holds without exception: no article replaces a doctor, and for every topic we note when it’s time to see one.
What we don’t use: blogs without citations, manufacturers’ marketing materials, brand-sponsored studies without independent verification, or anecdotes along the lines of “a friend told me.”
What guides us when we write
- Verifiability — we draw on publicly available European sources, not guesswork. Our goal is that you can check our claims yourself.
- Currency — science moves on, and something from 2005 may no longer hold today. We flag it wherever an older finding is involved.
- Approved EU health claims — we stick to wording that’s legal for supplements in the European Union, and we don’t use banned promises of “cures” or “miracles.”
- Limits of knowledge — if something isn’t certain, we say so. No article claims to be a “miracle solution.”
Why we don’t offer certain products (and don’t plan to)
Even if a supplement is popular, it may not be legal or safe in the Slovak context. We therefore deliberately exclude these from our future range:
- NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide) — in the European Union it has novel food status. EFSA issued a positive safety opinion in 2026, but European Commission authorization is not yet finalized, and the application is covered by data protection. Until the legal status is unambiguous, we won’t carry it.
- High-dose resveratrol — European dosage limits are lower than what’s often promoted abroad.
- Any product without a transparent composition analysis — without a certificate, there’s no proof of what’s actually in the capsule.
This approach narrows our future range. That’s by design, not a flaw.
What our future suppliers will look like
When we launch our first supplements in 2027, every supplier will have to meet these conditions:
- Headquartered in the European Union
- GMP certification (Good Manufacturing Practice)
- Lab analysis of every batch, publicly accessible
- No secret ingredients or “proprietary blends” without disclosed content
What we don’t know — and admit it
- We’re not doctors. This site doesn’t replace a medical examination or professional consultation.
- We don’t know your health status. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before starting any supplement.
- Science changes. What we write with confidence today, we may correct in two years. If that happens, we’ll say so.
- I use AI tools for research and writing. That doesn’t mean articles write themselves. I verify every claim against the primary source, I review every text before publishing, and I’m responsible for the content. I mention this because this site rests on the sentence “you can check up on me” — and that applies to how I work, too.
Our commitment
- No health claims that aren’t approved in the European Union.
- No recommendations that replace a doctor.
- No sales pressure. We’re dedicating 2026 and the first half of 2027 purely to education; we plan to launch sales at the earliest in autumn 2027.
