What data we collect
When you sign up for the newsletter
If you subscribe to receive articles via the form, we collect:
- Your email address
We do not collect other data (name, surname, address).
When you comment on articles
If you post a comment under an article, we collect the name (or nickname) and email address you enter in the form, and the content of your comment. This data is used to display the comment and for any reply. To protect against spam we use the Akismet service (operated by Automattic Inc.).
Please do not include sensitive health data in comments (diagnoses, medications, test results). If a comment contains such data, we may edit it or not publish it.
When you contact us by email
If you write to us at info@smevitalio.sk, we receive:
- The email address you write from
- The content of your message
Automatically when you visit the site
On every visit, technical data may be processed (IP address, browser type, time of visit). This data is not used to identify you and serves only to keep the site running and secure.
Why we collect data
Your email address is used exclusively to send new articles and educational content from Sme Vitalio. No advertising, no selling of data, no third parties for marketing.
The content of your emails and comments is used only to reply and communicate with you.
Who we share data with
We do not sell and do not share your data with advertising agencies or other third parties for marketing purposes.
To keep the site running, we use the following processors:
- EmailOctopus (EmailOctopus Ltd., United Kingdom) — sending the newsletter. Your email addresses are stored on their secure servers. More: emailoctopus.com/privacy-policy
- Webglobe (websupport.sk) — web hosting, on whose servers the site is stored
- Akismet (Automattic Inc.) — spam protection for comments
- Wordfence (Defiant, Inc., USA) — security protection of the site against attacks; processes visitors’ IP addresses. Transfer based on the EU’s standard contractual clauses.
How long we retain data
- We retain your email address for the newsletter as long as you’re subscribed. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link at the bottom of every email.
- Comments remain visible under the article until you delete them (or request their deletion).
- We retain the content of emails as needed, usually up to 12 months from the last communication.
Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to:
- Know what data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of data (“the right to be forgotten”)
- Request restriction of processing
- Object to processing
- Lodge a complaint with the Slovak Office for Personal Data Protection (www.uoou.sk)
